November 5-11.

Weekend recommendations, not intended to be a complete list.
If you know of any relevant concerts that were left out, let us know!

REMINDER:

Only events that have a Facebook event page and are visible on the band's own page are included in the concert roundup (with very few exceptions)!
I'd also like to remind all bands to create proper events for their concerts and make them visible on their pages. Simply sharing a post is not enough.

As November gets underway, outdoor events are finally giving way to club shows, with most of the action taking place in Budapest and a handful of selected venues around the country.

The highlight of the weekend is undoubtedly the Country-Rockabilly Jamboree at the New Orleans Music Club. The venue has appeared repeatedly in recent recommendations, and this time it welcomes A Nyughatatlan, The Riverside Soul, Andorai Péter, Readbreast Wilson, Nitus, Légrády Péter, Kasza Gábor and Járeb Barnabás. It would be hard to imagine a stronger lineup this weekend.

Pedrofon is having another busy week. After appearances at Eötvös10 and KULT13, they wrap things up on Saturday at the Pestújhely Community Center. Dynamite Dudes are just as active, performing at Spíler on Thursday, the HB Beer Hall on Friday, and the Vörös Neon Bar on Tuesday.

The eternally neglected Borsod region is not left out this time either. CandyMen Duo will visit Kazincbarcika on Friday, putting the county back on the rock and roll map for the weekend.

One of the most interesting guest performers of the weekend will be American musician Ryan Donohue, who arrives in Veszprém alongside Jumping Matt and his Combo. International collaborations like this are still relatively rare on the Hungarian scene.

Among the less frequently seen acts, it is worth paying attention to Luxemburg Rádió in Biatorbágy and The Beatboys at the Rock Museum on Sunday. Filtol will appear at the Újhegyi Community House, while GESAROL takes the stage in Rákosliget.

The busiest act of the weekend will be CandyMen Duo with five performances. After shows in Kazincbarcika and Békéscsaba, they continue in Szeged, then at Nyulam Presszó on Sunday, before closing the week in Feldebrő. Pedrofon and Dynamite Dudes are also keeping busy with three appearances each.

No Hungarian acts are traveling abroad this weekend.

There are no films on television that would interest our readership.

 Public Service Moments #566

Rock and Roll is a popular music genre that emerged in the United States during the 1950s. It combines elements of rhythm and blues, country, gospel, and jazz into an energetic and danceable style. The music is characterized by strong rhythms, electric guitars, and catchy melodies. Early pioneers such as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley helped bring Rock and Roll to a worldwide audience. Its influence shaped many modern music genres and continues to inspire musicians today.

"Before Elvis there was nothing.” - John Lennon (Beatles)

Rockabilly is one of the earliest forms of Rock and Roll, developing in the United States in the early 1950s. It blends country music, particularly hillbilly music, with rhythm and blues influences. The style is known for its upbeat tempo, twangy guitars, and distinctive slap-back echo on vocals. Artists like Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis were major figures in the Rockabilly movement. Today, Rockabilly remains popular among fans who appreciate its vintage sound and unique fashion culture.

Blues is a music genre that originated within African American communities in the southern United States during the late 19th century. It is known for its emotional expression, often reflecting themes of hardship, love, and resilience. Blues music typically follows a twelve-bar chord progression and features expressive vocals and instrumental solos. Influential musicians such as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Robert Johnson helped define the genre. The Blues became the foundation for many later music styles, including Rock and Roll, jazz, and soul.

Country is a genre of music that originated in the rural regions of the southern United States during the early 20th century. It combines folk traditions, storytelling lyrics, and simple yet memorable melodies. Common instruments include acoustic guitar, fiddle, banjo, and steel guitar. Country songs often focus on everyday life, family, love, and personal experiences. Artists such as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Willie Nelson helped make Country music one of the most popular genres in the world.

Beat music is a genre that developed in the United Kingdom during the late 1950s and early 1960s. It combines elements of Rock and Roll, rhythm and blues, and skiffle music. The style is characterized by strong backbeat rhythms, vocal harmonies, and guitar-driven arrangements. Bands such as The Beatles, The Searchers, and Gerry and the Pacemakers became leading representatives of the Beat movement. Beat music played a major role in the British Invasion and significantly influenced the development of modern pop and rock music.
